An interview with Emmanuelle

What is your area of specialty?
1. Collaborating with clients to build HR tools which support their business strategy.
2. Coaching to reach enhanced performance.

What motivates you most in your role ?
The blend of development (of tools) and delivery. The customisation is what makes every new project interesting and challenging. We have existing tools and theories, but the work involved in tailoring those tools and theories to meet the clients’ needs, then in delivering them, brings great satisfactionevery time.

What is the biggest challenge? How do you overcome that?
To pick up quickly on the client’s culture and internal language, to understand and use them so as to serve the client better. To overcome that, I’m never afraid to ask questions and I’m convinced of the importance of being genuine. The consultant is not the holder of all knowledge, it’s a collaboration.

What’s been your greatest success to date?
To see the real difference I could make for the people I’ve coached.

Who is your business hero?
Not some much a business hero, but an inspiration: Henri Dunant.
He saw a problem beyond proportion (the chaos of the Solferino battle field), he had an idea that was radically different but humane and fair (to state that those caring for the wounded should be neutral), he implemented it and communicated it. The idea for the Red Cross thus emerged.

Give us your key nugget quote…
‘The value of an idea lies in the using of it.’ Thomas Edison
