An interview with Will

What is your area of specialty?
Defining strategy and taking it into action

What motivates you most in your role?
Seeing the vision happen.
In general, you meet people who are visionaries, or people who are doers, but rarely are both qualitites combined. To come in as a coach, to be able to facilitate the joint efforts of the visionaries and the doers, then see their vision happen – that is the success I strive for.

What is the biggest challenge? How do you overcome that?
Maintaining a balance. I take on a lot, and I have to be sure that I can deliver. So I am mega-organised.

What’s been your greatest success to date?
It’s been the development and implementation of a true cultural transformation within a company of half a million employees.

Who is your business hero?
I can’t idolise someone I don’t know, so my heros are people I have worked with or family. My entrepreneurial heros are my grandfather, my brother and brother in law. Each one has had the guts and the drive to become hugely successful in business against difficult odds. To be surrounded by people like that gave me the courage to launch my own venture.
My visionary hero: my last boss at Procter & Gamble. A man who could take strategy and drive it all the way. He had core (the vision) and edge (the spirit).

Give us your nugget quote…
‘We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.’ Mother Theresa
